In this video, I show you how to factory reset an Acer PC or laptop without the password using the built-in Windows recovery options in Windows 10 and Windows 11. I start right from the lock screen and walk you through the exact key combo to get into Recovery Mode, then where to go next: Troubleshoot > Reset this PC. Before you begin, I recommend plugging your laptop in, because a factory reset can take a while and you don’t want the battery dying mid-process. Once you’re in “Reset this PC,” I break down the two main choices: “Keep my files” (removes some apps and settings) or “Remove everything” (wipes personal files, apps, and settings). I also explain the reinstall options—Local install vs Cloud download—so you can pick the best one based on your internet connection and whether you want the latest Windows version right away. If you’re selling or getting rid of the laptop, I recommend “Fully clean the drive” so your data can’t be recovered. After you hit Reset, just give it time—anywhere from about an hour to several hours—then you’ll either log in to a fresh reset system or go through the setup like it’s brand new.
