About This Video

In this video I show you how to enable Secure Boot on an ASUS laptop by getting into the BIOS the easiest way I’ve found: through Windows Recovery Mode. I start by going to the Windows Start button, selecting the power icon, then holding down the Shift key while I click Restart. I keep holding Shift until the screen turns blue, which tells me I’m in Recovery Mode. From there I go to Troubleshoot, Advanced options, then UEFI firmware settings, and select Restart to boot straight into the ASUS BIOS. Once I’m in the BIOS, the menus can look a little different depending on your ASUS model, but I’m looking for anything related to Security or Boot. On my laptop I press F7 to switch into Advanced Mode, go to Security, then Secure Boot, and change Secure Boot Control from Disabled to Enabled. After that I save with F10, confirm, and let the computer reboot. To verify it worked, I open System Information in Windows and check “Secure Boot State,” which should show On—helpful for meeting Windows 11 requirements and improving overall system security.
