In this video, I show you how to factory reset an Acer PC or laptop running Windows 10 or Windows 11 without needing to enter your PIN or password. This is perfect if you’ve forgotten your login or you just need to wipe the computer and start fresh. I walk you through using the built-in Windows Recovery options right from the lock screen, so you don’t need any extra software or paid recovery tools. I start at the lock screen and use the Shift + Restart method to boot into the blue recovery menu. From there, I go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC, and I explain the difference between “Keep my files” and “Remove everything.” I also cover the reinstall options (Local reinstall vs Cloud download), including when to avoid Cloud download if you’re on a metered connection. Finally, if you’re selling or getting rid of the laptop, I recommend choosing “Fully clean the drive” so your data can’t be recovered—just keep in mind it can take anywhere from about an hour to several hours depending on what you select.
