Peter declares Jesus as the Messiah, Jesus is transfigured, and He teaches about true discipleship. A deep and important chapter.
About This Video
In today’s Luke Bible Reading, I’m in Luke chapter 9, and it’s one of those chapters that feels like it has everything—big miracles, big questions, and big heart checks. We see Jesus feeding the five thousand, and I love how this reminds me that what feels “not enough” in my hands is more than enough in His. Then we get to that moment where Jesus asks, “Who do you say I am?” and Peter declares that Jesus is the Messiah. That question is so personal, and it’s the kind of thing I want to sit with in my Bible study routine—not just read quickly and move on.
Luke 9 also includes the transfiguration, which is such a powerful glimpse of Jesus’ glory, and it really strengthens my faith when I remember the disciples got to witness that. But this chapter doesn’t stop at the mountaintop moment—Jesus teaches what true discipleship looks like, and it’s real talk. Following Him isn’t just a vibe; it’s daily surrender. My takeaway is to let this chapter challenge me: to trust Jesus with what I have, to answer His question with my life (not just my words), and to choose obedience even when it’s uncomfortable.
