hey guys, FjCuts here—welcome back to another hair tutorial. In this video I’m doing a full transformation on Ryan: a clean low drop fade on the sides and a loose wavy perm on top. First thing I do is debulk the sides to get rid of that “mushroom shape” he’s always had, because if you don’t clear that weight out, the fade won’t sit right. Then I set my first guideline with my slimline pro, making sure it’s symmetrical all the way around so I’ve got a proper canvas to fade into. For the fade, I’m working in small half-inch steps: 0.5 no guard, then 1.5, then 2—always flicking outwards with light motions and not digging in. I stretch the skin with my left hand to help blend tighter areas, then detail with half the blade to knock out any dark spots. I finish the sides with a clean C-cup on both sides (no box, keeping it natural). After that, I prep the top for the perm: comb out, wet it, section into rows, and use bigger rods with bigger sections so we’re only adding texture and volume—super loose waves. Perm solution goes on for 5 minutes, rinse every rod, then neutralizer for 2 minutes to lock it in, and you’ll see the before-and-after at the end.
