About This Video

Hey guys, in this video I’m doing a full haircut and perm transformation—Korean wave perm on top with a low taper fade to keep it neat and tidy for work. Dylan’s in a professional environment, so the goal was clean and fresh, but still with that middle-part Korean wave look. I keep the fade tight and controlled, leaving some darkness on the sides so it complements the middle parting instead of looking too harsh. On the haircut side, I show you how I set my guidelines and why I’m always flicking out—especially on a taper. I start with my detailers to zero out the base, then I work up with no guard lever open, 1.5 guard, 2 guard, and I go back in with the half guard playing with the lever to remove any dark spots. For the perm, I clip and protect the top, add subtle volume on the sides (nothing too tight), then I section the top into a middle part and roll the rods downwards so the wave falls naturally—no crazy volume. I use Goldwell perm solution, process for around 5 minutes for this wave pattern, rinse, then apply Goldwell neutralizer (I foam it in a gun to make it easier), leave 5 minutes, rinse, and finish with a tidy trim and blow-dry back to show the pattern.
