What is the FL Studio fruit, really? In this video I finally clear up the argument that never seems to die: what the FL Studio logo is actually supposed to be. I walk through how the logo changed over time—starting as simple pixel art and slowly evolving into the modern 3D fruit we all recognize today. I also go back to the very beginning: when Didier Dambrin officially released the first version back in 1998. It wasn’t the DAW we know now—it was basically a simple 4‑channel drum machine, and honestly I think it was probably just for fun. I even remember not taking it seriously at the time, because anyone serious about music was still using trackers like DOS-based FastTracker 2. According to Didier, the original logo was intended to be a strawberry. But once it got converted to vector art, scaled up, and rendered in 3D, it stopped looking like one—and instead of forcing it back into a strawberry, it just kept evolving. Today it’s more like a strawberry/mango crossover that resembles a persimmon… basically a mutant fruit. But since it started as a strawberry, to me it’ll always be a strawberry.
