The big theme is keeping EQ simple and making decisions based on what actually matters: how it sounds in the mix. I start with a mistake I see all the time—EQ’ing in solo—then move into why cutting is usually better than boosting, how your ears get fooled by loudness, and why massive moves are almost never necessary. I also focus heavily on the low end, because that’s where most muddy and muffled mixes come from. I show you the mindset I use: reserve the low-end space for kick and bass, and low-cut anything that isn’t a bass sound (yes, even hats can have rumble). I cover reverb EQ (low-cut the reverb itself), the “cut narrow, boost wide” rule, and how even small EQ moves affect the balance elsewhere. Finally, I talk about mastering EQ: if you need big boosts or cuts at the mastering stage, something’s wrong in the mix and you should fix it there instead.
