How do YouTubers actually make money on YouTube?

For us, it’s a mix of a few income streams: YouTube ad revenue, sponsorships, and affiliate links. Ads are the most misunderstood because they fluctuate a lot and we don’t control most of what you see. The goal is to make the channel sustainable without pretending it’s “just a hobby” when it’s really a business.

How much money does YouTube pay per view?

There isn’t one fixed number, and that’s a big part of the confusion. Ad revenue can change dramatically based on time of year, ad rates, and what advertisers are spending. That’s why relying on ads alone is a roller coaster.

Do creators choose the ads that play on their videos?

No—creators don’t control most of the ads you’re served. We can follow YouTube’s settings and guidelines, but the platform decides a lot of what gets shown to each viewer. So if you see an ad you hate, it’s not because we personally picked it.

Why do YouTubers do sponsorships?

Sponsorships help stabilize income when ad revenue swings up and down. They’re part of what keeps the lights on and keeps us able to film, travel, and put out consistent videos. We’d rather be upfront about that than act like it doesn’t matter.
