When gear fails in the dead of winter, a simple trip can go sideways fast. This dead-of-winter overland trip started like any other… right up until everything I depended on began to fail. First the drone died. Then the diesel heater went haywire. And finally, my audio system quit at the worst possible moment. When you’re deep into a winter overland trip and your “smart” gear becomes the weakest link, you find out fast what really matters.
