In this video, I’m sharing my unpopular (and yes, kind of controversial) Disney Cruise Line packing tips—aka what I actually bring and what I think you can totally skip. John and I talk through the items that show up on basically every packing list, but just don’t make sense for our family, especially when you’re working with a small stateroom and you want to keep things simple. I’m looking at you, pop-up hamper. I’d rather pack a mesh laundry bag because it does the job without creating extra steps or taking up unnecessary space. I also get into why we’ve never needed hooks or lanyards on board, and what I do instead (I’m a fanny pack person—phone, wallet, sunglasses, all on me). John goes off (in the best way) about double-wide strollers and why they’re a nightmare in Disney Cruise hallways, especially on embarkation day when luggage is everywhere. And if you’re packing for sleep, I skip the bulky sound machine and use an app on my phone or iPad. Finally, my biggest “bring this” tip isn’t even an item: travel insurance. Cruises are expensive, and medical care onboard can be a huge out-of-pocket cost without it. For peace of mind alone, it’s worth it.
