About This Video

In this video, I’m talking straight to my ladies who are single and living on a limited income—because I’ve been in those “broke, scared, and out of options” seasons too. I keep seeing videos like “I can’t pay my rent” or “I’m about to be homeless,” and I wanted to share what I truly believe is one of the best ways to almost guarantee you won’t be stuck in that situation: house hacking. I’m not here to sell a fantasy—I’m sharing what’s worked for me and what I’d recommend if you’re trying to build stability one step at a time. House hacking, to me, is buying a home you can actually afford (ideally in an affordable area) and planning ahead so you have extra bedrooms you can rent out if you ever need to. Even renting a room for a few hundred dollars can help cover utilities, property taxes, insurance, maintenance, or help you pay your mortgage down faster. I also talk about why a fixer-upper can be the realistic option for low income living—fix what’s necessary to make it livable, then upgrade over time. The main takeaway is simple: look ahead, buy smart, and give yourself options so you’re not one emergency away from losing your housing.
