Notion just rolled out a really interesting database update, and in this video I walk through why it matters and how I’m already thinking about using it. The big change is inside the database layout customization: you can now use tabbed layouts. Instead of building a bunch of filtered views, weird template workarounds, or self-relations just to keep related stuff together, you can put connected databases into tabs on the same page and flip between them instantly. I show how this can clean up everyday setups—like organizing tasks and subtasks, keeping affiliate links or reference databases nearby, and generally reducing the friction of navigating around a workspace. It’s one of those features that makes your pages feel more like a real dashboard without extra complexity. I also call out a couple things I’d still like to see improved (like better naming options in the tab settings), but overall this is a solid step forward. On top of that, Notion added the ability to set full-width pages by default, which is a small change that saves time and makes new pages feel better right out of the gate.
