I went out in London and bought what is (with many, many caveats) basically the cheapest “gaming PC” I could find in the UK: £110 from CEX. The big win here is it’s not a dumpster office PC with a GT710 glued to the side — it actually came with a GTX 1050 Ti, dual-channel DDR4 (8GB), and a Cooler Master case… with a very scratched plastic “glass” panel. Inside, it’s dusty (they definitely didn’t clean it), but cable management is surprisingly decent for a case with no proper basement. Specs-wise, it’s a proper budget gremlin: an old dual-core/4-thread Pentium under an Intel stock cooler, an MSI H110M Pro motherboard with only two RAM slots, and Windows 10 running off a hard drive (which is basically Guantanamo for loading times). I tested GTA V and got genuinely playable 1080p results, but with a huge CPU bottleneck — the 1050 Ti was barely stretching its legs. Cyberpunk, though, was a disaster on 8GB RAM. The main takeaway: 8GB just isn’t enough anymore, even in dual channel. Dropping in 16GB DDR4 (painfully expensive right now) made Cyberpunk actually playable and turned the Pentium into the clear bottleneck. As a starter PC that you upgrade over time, it’s weirdly solid — and still miles better than the Amazon UK GT710/GT730 scam minefield.
