This video starts with me admitting something deeply embarrassing: my MacBook display is just… broken. I don’t know how it happened—one day I opened it and it looked like a modern art installation. I followed the iFixit steps (including draining the battery below 25% so the laptop doesn’t allegedly explode), disconnected a bunch of delicate cables, and eventually got the entire display assembly off. Installing the new one is where everything went off the rails: the ribbon cable/metal clip situation turned into a nightmare, I creased and tore the cable sheathing, and the connectors refused to seat properly. In the end, the MacBook still worked, but the new display didn’t—so I accidentally invented a “portable Mac desktop keyboard” setup instead.
