About This Video

In this video I do a super chilled, holiday-mode roundup of five bits of “cool tech stuff” I actually use every day — and I try very hard not to raise your heart rate any more than your family already has. I start off by immediately undermining the premise with something that’s barely tech: screen cleaner. I’ve been using Whoosh for ages because Amazon basically shoves it into your basket, but I’m pretty sure it can mess with non-glass displays (possibly because I was spraying it straight on like a caveman). I’ve switched to iO Clean lately, and anecdotally it just seems to work a bit better. Then we get into the real nerd stuff: external M.2 NVMe enclosures. I’ve used the SilverStone MS12 for years as an external games drive because it’s basically a heatsink with a USB port, but Windows and “chronic external drive usage” has been a whole soap opera of yearly reformats. I also tried a newer UGREEN 40Gbps enclosure that gave me faster reads, but it got weird with write speeds until I swapped drives. To finish it off: my OLED Steam Deck (it just works), a good pair of Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones (with a small rant about build quality getting worse), and a gimmicky-but-cute 65W multi-port GaN charger that makes travel charging way less annoying.
