In this video, I walk you through exactly how to reset an iPhone when you’ve forgotten the lock screen passcode and you’re completely locked out. I use Wondershare Dr.Fone (Screen Unlock) because, in my opinion, it’s the most convenient and easiest way to get this done—especially since it works on both macOS and Windows. I show you the full process step by step: installing Dr.Fone, choosing iOS Screen Unlock, connecting your iPhone with a cable, and putting it into Recovery Mode (volume up, volume down, then hold the side button until you see the recovery screen). I also make the big disclaimer very clear: this is only intended to work if the iPhone is yours. The unlock process erases everything on the device—apps, photos, data, all of it—because that’s Apple security and there’s no way around it. After Dr.Fone removes the lock, you’ll hit “iPhone Locked to Owner,” and you’ll need to sign in with your Apple Account to finish setup. Once you’re back in, you can set a brand-new passcode and, if you have a backup, restore your data during the setup process.
