In this video I’m talking to the beginner DJs who are looking at 2026 like, “Yo… how do I actually turn this into real money?” And I’m going to say it straight: if you’re getting into DJing just to make money, it’s probably not going to work. The money comes as you get better, but the art has to come first. You’ve gotta have passion for DJing, and you’ve gotta focus on becoming a legit DJ before you worry about the paycheck. Then I break down the two big lanes: bars/clubs vs private events. Bar and club DJs can absolutely do this full-time, but most people are looking at around $50–$100 an hour (with higher-end guys hitting $200–$400/hr if they’re a real brand and can bring people in). The tradeoff is you’ll likely need to DJ a lot of nights to hit a solid yearly income. Private events—weddings, bar mitzvahs, all that—can pay $800 to a couple grand in one night, but you’re not “just a DJ.” You’re the MC, coordinator, and the person bringing the gear and creating moments. Either way, build your brand, lean into what makes you unique, and let the money show up as you level up.
