In this video I finally put my money where my mouth is and bought the EXOTON S-1503 15-inch column array system—mainly because Nick Spinelli trashed it and I wanted to see for myself if it’s actually “worth it” for DJs. I unbox it, talk build quality (I’m not gonna lie… it feels cheap and hollow), show you what’s included (bags, power cable, the two different height poles), and then we take it straight into my Speaker Wars 2.0 setup to hear it in the real world. On the back end, it’s super bare-bones: no screen, no frills, just modes (Normal/DJ/Voice/Live/Flat), basic inputs (RCA/XLR), Bluetooth link, and one shared volume knob for everything—which I’m not a fan of. We crank it up, measure it at 15 feet, and it hit 114.8 dBA, which is honestly pretty solid for the price. But the big takeaway? Once you push it, the sub gets muddy and “washes out,” and the top end gets crazy bright and piercing—like, it legit hurt my ears. My opinion: for low-volume background/corporate/cocktail use, it can do the job if you need something cheap in a pinch. But as a real DJ wedding speaker? I wouldn’t use it. I’d rather you save your money and buy one quality system like an LD Systems Maui 28 G3.
