The Poet is an open-back, but it doesn’t behave like a wide-open sieve. I’d call it closer to a quarter-open design because you do get some passive isolation. When I was speaking with it on, my voice felt like it dropped by roughly 5–8 dB.

To my ears it’s balanced-neutral—not dark-neutral and not bright-neutral. You get a nice sense of air up top around 11k and above, and the bass is articulate, tonally dense, and it digs low. It’s also forgiving enough that badly mastered tracks don’t punish you the way some other headphones can.

Yes, it’s very easy to drive, and that’s one of the reasons I’m so enthusiastic about it. I ran it from portable gear like Mojo 2 and Hugo 2/2go, and it still delivered a proper experience. It will scale on big rigs like my WA33 or AIC10, but it doesn’t demand a quarter-of-a-million system to make sense.
