I’ve been daily carrying the redesigned M4 Mac Mini for the past couple months, and it’s honestly the first time the “mini” name feels fully deserved. This thing is tiny (palm-of-your-hand tiny), about 1.5 pounds, and the base model is still loaded: 10‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16GB unified memory, and a 256GB SSD. The whole idea is BYDM—bring your own display, keyboard, and mouse—so I built a travel setup around it. For the display, I went a different route and used VITURE Pro XR glasses, which give me a huge, bright, smooth “virtual screen” anywhere. Then I kept the input setup reliable: Magic Keyboard for instant connection, and an MX Master 3 using a 2.4GHz receiver so I’m not fighting Bluetooth on boot. Performance-wise, the base M4 surprised me. My Geekbench scores were so high I reran them, and in real life it handled my photo workflow, multitasking, and even some gaming way better than I expected. It has limits in heavier GPU/export scenarios, but for most people, this is one of the most compelling Macs you can buy right now—especially if you use the student discount (Apple never checks).
