I upgraded mine to 32GB of RAM and set it up with a RAID 5 configuration for a balance of speed, redundancy, and usable space. Performance-wise, editing 4K YouTube projects directly from the NAS feels like working off a normal external SSD, and transfers over 10GbE are seriously quick. The biggest takeaway: this two-tier workflow—fast NVMe NAS for active work, bigger NAS for long-term archives—has made Apple’s pricey internal storage feel way less necessary for me.
