About This Video

I’m out at the World of Concrete show at the Milwaukee booth, and I got hands-on with a brand-new comfort add-on for the BOLT system: the Milwaukee BOLT REDLITHIUM USB Helmet Cooling Fan. The big driver here is the industry shift from Type 1 to Type 2 head protection—more safety, but it can run hotter. Milwaukee’s answer is a fan that pulls fresh air in and pushes it where you actually feel it, either at your face line or the back of your neck, depending on which duct you run. What impressed me is how engineered this thing is. It’s not just a “stick a fan on a hard hat” gimmick—Rob walked me through the silicone ducts you can swap out, and the Type 2 climbing-style helmet channels air through the foam and out the top. They’re claiming they’re the only setup delivering airflow to the top of your headrest, kind of like those ventilated car seats. On top of that, it’s balanced at 230g, runs on a REDLITHIUM USB 3.0Ah battery (about 4 hours on high, 6 on low), and you can swap batteries for all-day runtime with USB-C fast charging (around 80% in 30 minutes). MSRP is $134 and it ships in April.
