About This Video

I keep seeing it everywhere—“Warhammer is too expensive,” “GW are scam artists,” and all that noise. So in this video I actually sit down and put real numbers on it. I break down my own Ork army at 2,000 points and add up what it cost in pure miniatures (no paints, tools, or hobby extras). My list comes out at about £483.50, and I talk through how a 2,000 point army can realistically land anywhere from roughly £500 on the cheaper end to around £800 if you’re filling points with lots of smaller kits instead of one big chunk like a Stompa. Then I flip the perspective, because this is where I think people get weird about the hobby. I compare Warhammer spending to the kind of consumables people burn through without blinking—cigarettes/vapes, coffee, takeaways, nights out drinking. Even dialing it back from the “worst case” numbers, you can easily hit around £1,000 a month on stuff you literally inhale, eat, or throw up and never see again. My verdict? Subjectively, no—Warhammer isn’t automatically a scam or a waste. For most hobbyists it’s an investment in years of building, painting, and playing, not a one-time disposable purchase.
