In a competitive environment like Silicon Valley, young programmers are often pressured to out-grind their colleagues in literally everything. But most things aren't worth your time or energy. I wish I knew this when I started college - turns out, the most effective engineers focus on their priorities, cut out the noise, protect their time, and preserve their motivation.
