You eat with your eyes first—and that’s exactly what happened to me with the Jet JS600 TGR in transparent green. I was scrolling Jet’s catalogue while doing reviews for them and I just fell in love with it: that figured top, the roasted maple neck, locking tuners, Wilkinson bridge hardware, and an HSS setup with a 5-way plus a coil split. Then I bumped into my old mate Lee from Jet at the guitar show in Shirley (yes, I did the gag), and before I knew it, one turned up for me to test. In this video I put it through its paces with clean tones and then some rock sounds, running through the pickup positions and flipping the humbucker into single-coil mode to hear the difference. The big question I’m asking is whether the quality and sound actually match up to a nearly £600 guitar. Spoiler: I really do like the build quality and how it feels to play, and I think once the strings bed in properly it could be an absolutely fantastic bit of kit. But here’s the painful part—at almost £600, it’s way out of my league, so ultimately it has to go back… even though I’d love to gig it.
