About This Video

In this video I’m helping my buddy build a killer keyboard setup for under $100, and I’m breaking down my top five picks that you can buy right now (no “if you catch it on sale” math). I’m looking at the stuff that actually matters at this price: build quality, stabilizers, keycaps, switch options, RGB implementation, and whether the board gives you room to upgrade later. I start at the top end with the Hexgears Impulse because it’s just stupid value: metal top plate, hot-swap (3‑pin), bright saturated RGB with a 360° light bar, and stock PBT pudding caps that make the lighting pop. Then I get into two Epomaker/Skyloong options (SK96 and SK71) because I genuinely like these layouts, and they deliver a super solid out-of-box experience—hot-swap opticals, onboard RGB, USB‑C, Bluetooth, and surprisingly good stabilizers for the money. I also cover the Keychron K2 for anyone who wants wireless with great battery life, and I wrap it up with the Ducky One 2 Mini—the board that popularized the 60% craze and still holds up as a safe, solid pick under $100 if you want a standard layout and PBT shine-through caps.
