In this video I’m walking through the full history of the Razer BlackWidow—because honestly, I don’t think any other keyboard in PC gaming is as iconic. I start with the OG BlackWidow/Ultimate era (big gamer font, glossy plastic, dedicated macro keys, and Cherry MX Blues clacking away), then move through the early switch and finish changes like the Ultimate Stealth going to Browns and matte. From there it’s the big milestones: the first full RGB BlackWidow Chroma, Razer introducing their own Green and Orange switches, and how Chroma and in-game lighting integration helped shape what people expect from “gaming keyboards” today. I also cover the design pivots—like the BlackWidow X going sleeker with a metal top plate and floating keys, and then the Chroma V2 bringing that plush magnetic wrist rest plus the first linear option (Razer Yellow). The Elite is still my personal favorite BlackWidow because it hits the sweet spot: clean look, exposed switches, metal top plate, and the media keys/dial. Then we get into the more “grown up” BlackWidow Lite, the budget-friendly BlackWidow 2019, and finally the big modern jump to wireless with the V3 Pro and the compact V3 Mini Hyperspeed. To wrap it up, I do a full legacy sound test so you can hear every BlackWidow switch back-to-back. The biggest takeaway for me is how Razer kept updating their switches basically every single release—constantly tweaking feel, stability, and acoustics instead of just settling for “good enough.”
