About This Video

Cable management sucks. We can all agree on that. In this video I test the Secretlab Magnus magnetic modular desk and focus on the one thing it’s clearly built to solve: making cable routing clean, fast, and way less annoying. I walk through the assembly experience (Secretlab-level packaging, actually good tools, and a build I knocked out solo in about 15 minutes—just remember it’s nearly 100 lbs). The desk is basically all steel, super tight tolerances, and once it’s together it feels rock solid even though the top looks thin. The big talking point is the magnetic ecosystem and the desk’s “skeleton” design: the tabletop sits slightly above the frame, creating a built-in channel to route cables around the desk. Then you’ve got the hinged rear section that flips up into a huge cable tray, plus magnetic cable sheets/anchors that you can pry off and reposition whenever you swap gear (which, as a reviewer, is my whole life). I also cover the trade-offs: it’s not a sit-stand desk, and I’m not totally in love with the magnetic polyurethane desk mat (cold metal top without it, but the mat feels like wall-to-wall leather and could dent). Overall though, if you want a clean setup and you’re tired of spaghetti, the Magnus is a massive win.
