In this video I’m taking a look at Razer’s new Orochi V2, which is basically built to be that “throw it in the laptop bag” wireless gaming mouse that doesn’t feel like a cheap travel mouse. The build is solid—no creaking—and it has that classic Razer matte texture you’d recognize from stuff like the Viper or DeathAdder. No rubber grips out of the box, but you can add them with Razer’s Universal Grip Kit if you want. I also go over the Customs program, where you can swap the top plate with magnet-mounted designs (they’re glossy compared to the stock matte plate), which is a really cool way to make the mouse feel more personal. The big surprise for me is how deceptively “full-size” the Orochi V2 feels in actual use. The raised rear hump helps for palm/claw, the buttons sit low up front for control, and the thumb button placement is honestly one of my favorite parts because it feels natural (unlike a lot of small laptop mice). You can run it on Bluetooth or 2.4GHz with dongle storage under the top plate, and you can choose AA or AAA batteries to balance weight vs battery life. My main gripe: at $70, I really wish it had optical switches—mechanicals are fine, but I’d rather eliminate double-click risk long-term. Still, as a compact laptop gaming mouse, it’s a winner… just a little pricey.
