In this video we tackle the question. Do "faster" switches really matter for gaming? We see lots of switches marketed as "Speed" or "gaming" switches but does that shorter travel translate into better gaming performance? Lets find out! About This Video

In this video I finally put the whole “speed switches make you better at gaming” thing under the microscope and did some very un-fun keyboard science. The idea is simple: a lot of “gaming” switches advertise shorter actuation (like 1.0–1.5mm) versus more typical 2.0mm-ish switches, so in theory you should be quicker. But I’ve always said a switch can register faster without making a faster human, so I wanted to test it in a way that actually relates to gaming: see something on screen, process it, and react. I used a reaction-time tester and ran 100 presses per board (with warmups, rotating boards, and the same USB-C cable where possible). I tested a spread: Fnatic Streak 65 low-profile speed switches (1.0mm), Ducky One 2 Mini with Cherry MX Browns (2.0mm), Holy Pandas (1.9mm), Hakko Clears (1.9mm) with chunky SA caps, and then I threw in the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog set all the way down to a ridiculous 3.6mm just to add contrast. The averages landed basically in the same ballpark: ~242–256ms, with the “slow” 3.6mm setting actually coming out fastest in my run. Takeaway: pick what feels best—tactility, weight, comfort—because for most of us, switch speed isn’t the thing holding us back (sorry).
