About This Video

I’m Joshua Hanlon from Beyond the Brick, and in this video I’m at Atlanta Brick Con 2026 checking out an absolutely massive LEGO Lord of the Rings display: Minas Tirith during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. I talk with the builders, Kyle Marley and Alberto Casal, about the moment they’re capturing—Gandalf rescuing soldiers from the Nazgûl—and how this has turned into their long-term “baby” of a project as they keep expanding the White City. We dig into what makes the build work at this scale: a huge outer wall built with brick-built “mortar” using SNOT, jumper plates, and a lot of trial and error, plus intentional use of sun-faded white bricks to sell that aged-stone look. They’ve already used around 50,000 bricks (not counting minifigures), with collaboration and parts support coming from LEGO fans in the U.S. and internationally—“you don’t want it, we take it.” Kyle also shows off working trebuchets with real weight inside (including loose change), and we look at the Technic-heavy internal framing that keeps the towers and octagonal shaping sturdy. The whole thing is modular and numbered for transport, and they’re planning to keep adding upward toward all seven layers over time—more play, sweat, and fun than a rushed, deadline-driven showpiece.
