About This Video

I’m Joshua Hanlon from Beyond the Brick, and in this video I take you through a huge LEGO castle-and-pirates layout at Le Sommet de la Brique 2025 with one of the builders, Jacob. This is a big medieval scene built as a family project over 47 days, and it’s packed with story: a bustling market outside the castle, townspeople heading out (including a church scene), and a cozy village area focused on agriculture and small shops. We zoom in on the details that make a layout like this feel alive—crops like tomatoes, pumpkins, and sunflowers, plus animals like pigs and horses. There’s also a magical edge to it, with a witch/wood area and a wizard tower in the background, along with a watermill and river running through the scene. Out on the island, the pirates are guarding treasure, and Jacob even includes fun hidden moments like a prisoner in a little boat, Doctor Strange in the castle, a dinosaur in the back, and my favorite: a fisherman riding a whale. On top of that, the build features varied roof techniques and fully built interiors, and Jacob shares that setup at the show took around 80 hours from Tuesday to Friday.
