In this video, I’m at Le Sommet de la Brique 2025 talking with Patrick about his absolutely over-the-top Diagon Alley build from Ministry of Making. What makes this one so fun is that it’s not trying to match the movies as much as it’s based on the Universal Orlando Diagon Alley—Patrick even describes it as basically “copy paste” from the real-life reference. From the outside, the shaping and color are spot-on, but the real magic is that every building is fully interiorized with floors you can lift to explore. We walk building-by-building through details like the scroll vendor and apartment, the Quidditch supply shop with the Daily Prophet offices (including desks, a busy newsroom vibe, and a newspaper press), and Flourish & Blotts packed with three floors of books for that “grand” library feel. I also loved hearing about the wall construction—thick, layered, and textured with SNOT, masonry, wedges, and tile to match the Orlando look. Patrick even shows off a clever tree technique using a small stem with a flower and leaf to create a curved, rounded canopy without overstuffing it with leaves. He’s also thinking about lighting, but wiring and access to the interiors makes it tricky—because with a build this detailed, you really want to show what’s inside.
