About This Video

I got a cold email today that basically said: I have a “great amount of subscribers,” but my recent views are low, and my upload frequency is almost criminal. And yeah… I know my videos suck. The person wasn’t entirely wrong—they suggested I should slow down and do one to two videos a week, like scheduled episodes people can look forward to. Part of me agrees, because I’ve wanted to polish things up, but it’s hard to do that when I’m still catching up on daily uploads (I fell behind after a trip earlier this year, and I only caught up a few days ago—hence the random twice-a-day uploads). But this video is really just me venting about why I’m still doing it. I don’t think daily uploads are automatically the problem—Casey Neistat did daily vlogs for years. The difference is he made awesome videos, and I’m sitting here comparing myself when I should just create to create. I’m trying to be a comfort creator: something you can put on to relax, feel inspired, and not feel like I’m trying to sell you a version of myself. I’ve also been thinking about the “almost phase” of life and projects—the messy part where nothing’s perfect yet. Looking back at old iPhone and camera clips that are blurry or boring by YouTube standards still makes me feel more than polished stuff. So for now, I’m going to keep showing up, even if it’s “criminal,” because I said I would.
