In this video I review the Skil Power Core 12 brushless drill and impact driver, and I give you my honest take on whether Skil is a power tool brand worth investing in. I walk through what comes in the box, the 5-year warranty (you’ve got to register to activate it), and the core features you’d expect—plus a couple things Skil does that genuinely surprised me. The big standout is the battery system. These Power Core 12 batteries charge via USB-C (with a little dust cover), and they can also act like a built-in inverter so you can charge small devices straight off the battery. I tested that by charging my earbuds in the shop, and it worked great—honestly a really innovative value compared to other brands that want you to buy a separate inverter. Performance-wise, I think 12V drills are a little niche, but for light-duty work like pilot holes, this one is powerful, lightweight, comfortable, and brushless—exactly what I want. The impact driver blew me away: great power and battery life, super comfortable, and the best lighting I’ve seen on an impact with a 360° ring light you can turn on/off independently.
