About This Video

In this video I review the Milwaukee M12 6" random orbit sander (the 3/16" orbit version), and I’ll be honest—I did not expect to like a battery-powered sander this much. Historically, I haven’t been a huge fan of cordless sanders because sanding can take hours, and I always assumed I’d be stuck stopping to charge batteries. But after having a great experience with the M12 3" detail sander (especially with the M12 XC 5.0 High Output battery), I figured it was time to put this 6" M12 sander to the test. I walk through what’s in the box (two pads—hook & loop and PSA—plus left/right dust port options), how easy it is to swap pads with the spindle-lock style “wrench” built in, and then I sand an epoxy + black walnut board using 3M Cubitron paper and my Festool CT MIDI dust extractor. The biggest takeaway: this thing has basically zero vibration, the dust collection was insane, and the balance/weight distribution is excellent. My only real gripes are minor—no lock-on for the paddle switch and no LED—but performance-wise this is my new go-to sander, and battery life with the HO 5.0 wasn’t an issue at all.
