In this video I’m back at it with another super fun “paint your own” Kmart craft kit—this time it’s Christmas decorations! After having such a good time painting the plaster pumpkins for Halloween, I grabbed the 17 Piece Paint Your Own Christmas Plaster Set and painted all ten decorations in the box. It’s very much a relaxed, colourful session where I test ideas as I go, mix in supplies from my own stash, and try to make the cheap kit pieces look extra festive (and a bit more “me”). I also share the big practical takeaway with these plaster kits: the kit paints can rub or chip off pretty easily if you bump the decorations, so I really recommend adding a top coat to protect your work. I used a pearlescent acrylic topcoat (Unicorn Milk) for that extra glow, and I also brought in acrylic paint markers for details and metallic touches.
