In this short video, I’m basically checking in to tell you something I wish more people heard when they’re staring at the idea of leaving the USA: you’re not alone. My family and I have been blessed to meet so many people on our journey here on the continent of Africa—families and individuals who had the same dream we did, even when we had no idea they existed. What’s wild is how many of them are from the exact places we used to live or have ties to—Maryland, neighboring states, and areas where we have family. It turns into that funny moment like, “Really… you’re from there?” The biggest takeaway is encouragement: there are more people doing this than you think, and it’s possible. We’ve met folks living in the same neighborhoods we’ve lived in, and we’ve run into others while traveling to different countries here on the continent. Seeing more families take real steps to move abroad—to dare to dream and go after the life they want—has been extremely encouraging for us, and I wanted to pass that encouragement to you. If you’re feeling alone in it, you’re not. Be encouraged.
