In this video I share the full journey of my planted aquarium — from building an aquascape to experiencing explosive plant growth using DIY CO₂, and eventually making the difficult decision to tear down the tank and start a new Dutch-style aquascape. This planted tank was set up with a DIY CO₂ system, and the results were honestly surprising. Within about 30 days the aquarium plants grew extremely fast, with stem plants like Rotala growing tall and dense. The fast growth created a lush and healthy planted aquarium, but it also caused the aquascape to become overgrown and harder to maintain. Instead of simply trimming the plants, I decided to reset the aquarium layout and build a brand new Dutch style aquascape. In this video you’ll see the transition from the original planted tank to the new aquascape design. I also share the 1-week update of the new aquascape, where you can see early plant growth, some initial algae, and a few challenges like accidentally mixing two different Rotala green varieties. These are common issues that many aquascapers face during the early stages of a planted tank. This video is part of my ongoing aquascaping journey, where I experiment with low-cost planted tank methods, DIY CO₂ systems, and different aquascape styles.
