6 views· 3:12· Mar 27, 2026

Are you stuck in a loop trying to reset your Apple Account password? In January 2026, following the iOS 26.2 update, Apple has implemented stricter Secure Enclave protocols and enhanced Stolen Device Protection that can block legitimate password resets. Whether your "Change Password" button is grayed out, you're stuck on the "Verification Failed" screen, or you're facing the 1-hour Security Delay, this updated tutorial covers the "Familiar Location" bypass, the "Support App" trick, and the 2026 Account Recovery workflow. In this video, we cover: The "Stolen Device Protection" Delay: Why the iPhone 17 requires a 1-hour wait to reset your password if you aren't at home or work—how to start the timer and finish the reset. The "Change Password" Grayed Out Fix: How to check if Screen Time Content & Privacy Restrictions are preventing account changes and how to toggle them off. Using the "Apple Support" App on Another Device: A life-saving 2026 tip—how to borrow a friend's iPhone and use the "Reset Password for Someone Else" tool to bypass local device glitches. The "Verification Failed" Server Bug: How to check Apple’s System Status page for "Apple Account" outages and why a quick Network Settings Reset often clears the error. Recovery Contacts & Keys: How to use your designated Recovery Contact or your 28-character Recovery Key to instantly regain access without the standard waiting period. Liquid Glass UI Navigation: Finding the redesigned Sign-In & Security menus in iOS 26.2.1 and the new "Account Recovery" dashboard. The "iforgot.apple.com" Loop: Why the web portal might be redirecting you to your device and how to force a web-based recovery if your iPhone is locked.

About This Video

In this video I show you what to do when you get the “cannot reset Apple ID password” error on your iPhone or iPad. The first thing I always check is the basics that usually cause this loop: your network and VPN. I go into Settings and make sure I’m on a stable, strong connection, then I open General > VPN & Device Management and disconnect any VPN because that can block Apple ID verification and password changes. After that, I fix the common system-side triggers: I turn on Date & Time “Set Automatically,” I check for a software update, and then I reset the network stack by going to Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. If the “Change Password” option is blocked or acting weird, I also go into Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and disable restrictions, because sometimes account changes get restricted there. Finally, I do a force restart (volume up, volume down, then hold power until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears), then I retry the reset from Settings > Apple ID > Sign-In & Security > Change Password. If it still won’t change, I recommend signing into your Apple ID on another trusted device you’ve used recently.
