How to Change Battery Icon Color on iPhone

12 views· 2:11· Mar 24, 2026

Ever wondered why your battery icon is yellow, green, or red, and how you can actually customize it? In January 2026, following the iOS 26.2 update, the iPhone 17 and 16 still don't have a "pick a color" button for the battery, but you can control it using the new "Adaptive Power" modes and Accessibility filters. Whether you want to fix a permanently yellow icon or create a custom aesthetic using the "Liquid Glass" tinting, this updated tutorial covers the exact system triggers that change your battery's appearance. In this video, we cover: The Low Power Mode Toggle: Why your battery icon turns Yellow and how to toggle it in Settings - Battery (or via Control Center) to return it to the standard white/black. The 2026 "Adaptive Power" Mode: A new iOS 26 feature—how the icon might change to a Light Blue or Teal tint when the system intelligently throttles performance to save energy without a full "Low Power" lock. Custom Color Tints (Accessibility): How to use Settings - Accessibility Display & Text Size - Color Filters to change the entire status bar (including the battery) to any hue you like. The "Smart Invert" Trick: How to force the battery icon to switch from black to white (or vice-versa) for better visibility against 2026 Spatial Wallpapers. Charging & Critical States: Why the icon turns Green when plugged in and Red when you drop below 10%, and how to use Shortcuts to trigger a notification when these colors change. Liquid Glass Tinting: Using the new iOS 26.2 "Tinted" mode to match your battery icon and app icons to your iPhone’s physical case or wallpaper color.

About This Video

Hey guys, in this video I show you how you can change your iPhone battery icon color using simple settings that are already on your phone. First, I recommend you check for any pending iOS update because sometimes the settings behave weird if you’re behind. So I go to Settings > General > Software Update, make sure you’re connected to the network, and confirm everything is up to date. After that, the main trigger for the battery icon color is Low Power Mode. I go to Settings > Battery > Power Mode, and when you enable Low Power Mode, your battery icon turns yellow/orange. If you don’t want that color and you’re trying to force a different look, I show the trick I use: turn Low Power Mode off first, relaunch Settings, then go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and enable Smart Invert. Once Smart Invert is on, it inverts the phone’s colors and that includes the battery icon too. Then when I go back and toggle Low Power Mode again, you can see the battery icon can shift to a different tint, and it may look different depending on the screen or app you’re in. That’s basically the easiest way to change the battery icon appearance with what iOS already gives you.
