About This Video

In this video I do a first-time reaction and singer analysis to Ren’s “Vincent’s Tale – Starry Night,” and I was genuinely not ready for how much happens in only about eight minutes. The whole thing feels like a prison/group-therapy setting, and I talk through how Ren builds tension right away—especially with that more a cappella, voice-driven approach at the beginning. I also point out one of my favorite Ren things: when he says a word and his delivery actually emulates it (like the “stut-stutter” moment). Lyrically, I touch on the big themes of corruption, power, and how everyday people get left behind—stuff that’s hard not to relate to, even if I can’t speak to every specific UK detail. Musically and visually, I keep coming back to how interactive his filmmaking is: the uneasy camera angles, the movement, and how it keeps your attention beyond just the bars. Act four is the standout for me—instrumentally it’s truly “in different areas,” with switches that actually make sense alongside the lyric direction and the visuals (that “Starry Night” glittering moment felt like hope/peace to me). By the end, the futuristic “rehabilitation”/experiment angle gets really chilling, and I leave the video with my jaw dropped—equal parts impressed, unsettled, and excited to see where “to be continued” goes.
