About This Video

In this video I’m literally just yapping (in the most honest way) about something I get almost every year: summertime sadness. I’m on summer break, and even though I actually love summer (spring into summer is elite), I get this weird sadness that comes from extreme FOMO—especially when I’m on my phone more and comparing my life to people on social media. I start thinking I should be “sipping matcha in Japan” or doing something super niche and exciting, when in reality I’m in my room job searching and feeling like my life is too mundane. I talk about how I don’t think there’s a “cure” for summertime sadness, but there are ways to prevent it from consuming you. For me, it’s learning to be surrounded by summer instead of being consumed by what I think summer is supposed to look like—like luxury trips, concerts, and nonstop plans. I also get into how expensive concert culture has gotten (like $600 for a nosebleed… in this economy?), and how I’m trying not to rely on K-pop as my only source of happiness anymore. My biggest takeaway is to build small summer hobbies and a simple bucket list—reading, biking, running, trying new foods, even redoing my room every five seconds. And honestly, a big emotional part for me is wanting to give my parents a real break one day. I’ll get there—one day or another.
