In this video, I’m showing you how I use the Apple TV Enhanced Homebridge plugin to unlock a bunch of Apple TV features that you just don’t get in the native Home app. The goal is simple: make the Apple TV act more like a real smart home device in HomeKit, with extra sensors and switches you can actually automate. I walk through what you need first (Homebridge running on something like a Raspberry Pi), then we install the plugin, choose exactly which sensors/switches we want exposed, and connect the Apple TV to the plugin. After that, I add the Apple TV into Apple Home and show what new controls and “states” you can use for automations. The fun part is the automation ideas—like triggering actions when the Apple TV starts playing, pausing lights when you hit play, and even launching a specific show or movie inside a streaming app. I also cover setups with multiple Apple TVs, network discovery tips, and a few settings that make everything more reliable. If you want your Apple TV to be more automation-friendly without leaving the Apple ecosystem, this is one of my favorite Homebridge upgrades.
