About This Video

If you felt sick and tired of beauty social media in 2025, you’re not alone—so in this video I’m ranting (lovingly, but firmly) about the beauty trends I need to see stop in 2026. The biggest one by far is overconsumption, because it genuinely feels like consumption itself has become the content. It’s not even about a curated collection or a real love of beauty anymore—it’s endless hauls, massive unboxings, declutters followed by immediate restocks, and this weird “shopping competition” vibe that’s exhausting to watch and impossible to keep up with. Then I get into brands launching nonstop products for the sake of launching, not real innovation—especially with the explosion of K-beauty in U.S. retailers. When Ulta has hundreds and hundreds of K-beauty skincare listings and brands are dropping entire color-coded “ingredient collections” every few weeks, I just check out. That feeds directly into the PDRN craze (which felt like niacinamide in 2019 on steroids), where marketing made it seem like the most proven topical anti-aging ingredient ever… even though a lot of the hype comes from injectable data, not topical studies. I also talk about “ingredient dusting” (like absurdly long INCI lists and things like “50 peptides” in a $25 essence), the rise of incentivized reviews that flood launch pages with five-star ratings, and scammy AI accounts/videos—including fake doctors and stolen creator content—that are getting harder to detect and honestly feel dangerous.
