If you’re overwhelmed by drugstore scalp serums and all the “hair growth” claims flying around, this video is me doing what I always do: testing what’s viral and then pulling apart the science so you can make a smarter purchase. This is video four in my scalp serum series, and I’m wrapping up the drugstore options by deep diving OGX and Dove (after already covering Pantene, Neutrogena, and The Ordinary). Behind the scenes, I’ve been emailing brands, sending very detailed question lists, and hopping on calls/Zooms with their science teams so I can understand how these formulas are actually supposed to work. For OGX, I go ingredient-by-ingredient (peptides, caffeine, niacinamide, panthenol, mango leaf extract, microalgae, feverfew) and explain what OGX told me—plus what I could find from supplier testing on the specific pea peptide they use. I also talk about the reality of supplier “sell sheets” and why we have to take them with a very large grain of salt. Then I compare the actual user experience: OGX has my favorite packaging by far (a clicky pen), it’s lightweight, fast-absorbing, residue-free, and fragrance-free. For Dove, I explain that this is essentially the same serum I’ve recommended for years—just renamed with new packaging and an updated fragrance. Dove’s sharable clinical details are limited, so I lean on what my chemist friend Thinn uncovered (patents/trademarked ingredients) to better understand why some people see density/anchorage benefits. I finish by comparing all five serums on price, texture/residue, fragrance, and what results each one is most realistically suited for.
