It’s a super rainy, cozy day in Berlin, so I sat down with a Glossier tote full of notebooks to debrief my 2025 systems—and ask the big question: will I actually carry these journals and planners into 2026? I split this into two parts: planning (mostly work-related notebooks) and journaling (the systems I’m pretty confident about). I show what’s working, what’s still “in progress,” and the little tweaks I made after traveling for three weeks and realizing some setups just don’t make sense for how I move through my days. On the planning side, I talk about why I’m leaning into lighter, more flexible tools: a Field Notes memo book for a single project (because I’m trying to stop writing meeting notes on random paper), a slim Traveler’s Notebook setup with a compact High Tide monthly schedule starting in October, and my current weekly undated planner (the Kokuyo Jibun Techo “GU” style) that lets me bullet-journal my tasks without feeling boxed in. I also show my long-running Leuchtturm1917 as a big “thinking space” for goals, classes, and partnerships, plus my Blackwing notebook that’s basically my analog-to-digital sketch + ideas pipeline. For journaling, I’m staying loyal: my Hobonichi Techo is still my favorite daily journaling system (going into year three), and Traveler’s Notebook inserts continue to be my go-to for travel diaries, seasonal overflow pages, and even a photo-slot mini project documenting my apartment move. The takeaway: I’ll keep the journaling ecosystem the same for 2026, but planning is where I’m still experimenting to find the right balance of structure and freedom.
