About This Video

In this cozy catch-up video, I’m joined by my sister Bernice (Ber!)—which is rare because we’re almost never in the same house. We basically do a big stationery and journaling debrief: my recent Tokyo trip (yes, I hit around 10 stationery shops in five days), what I shopped for, and how I’m documenting it in my Traveler’s Notebook passport size. I talk about why I don’t really journal on planes (I’m a laptop-on-the-tray person), why trains work better for me, and how I like to set aside a couple of hours at home to actually finish pages without forcing it. Ber shares her new olive passport-size Traveler’s Notebook (her first leather folio moment), plus how she got into travel journaling by collecting ephemera—tickets, stamps, little finds—even when she didn’t write much. We also chat about what we want for 2026: being more intentional and mindful, choosing paper that feels good and handles fountain pen ink well, and avoiding journals with too many prompts that make us feel like we “have to finish.” Along the way, we geek out over tools we genuinely use (glue tape vs glue stick, dot stickers, clips, portable scissors), and I show a Japan pen highlight: a Van Gogh-inspired Sailor mini that I couldn’t leave the shop without.
