In this 2026 guide, I walk you through exactly how to change your Claude AI settings so you can personalize the app, tighten up privacy, and keep your account secure. I start in the browser version of Claude: click your profile icon in the bottom-left, hit Settings, and you’ll land in General—this is where most of the “make Claude feel like yours” stuff lives. I show you how to update your full name, set what Claude should call you (preferred name), and choose what best describes your work so the suggestions feel more relevant. Then we dial in notifications (quiet inbox vs. timely updates), appearance (theme, background animation for speed/battery), and chat font for readability.
